Description

A gorgeously detailed painting of a Messerschmitt Bf 110E-2 of Zerstörergeschwader 1 in action against maritime targets in 1943 at Sicily, Italy.
The Bf 110 was a three-seater strategic fighter to escort bombers and used for long distance combat missions. However, it was inferior to single-engined fighters in terms of manoeuvrability. During missions to England it had to be escorted itself. Later on in the war it became successful as a night fighter.
