The Thijs Postma Photo Archive
Aviation history lives in its photographs. Every image of an aircraft on the ramp, climbing out at dusk or parked in a hangar tells part of a story we love to share.
This page concerns the photographs from the personal archive of Thijs Postma: a collection of more than 100,000 aviation photographs. Many of these photographs were taken by Thijs himself. Others found their way into his archive over the years.
Our honest position
With an archive of this size, we are not always certain who owns the rights to every individual photograph. Some images come without a name, a date or a clear record of where they first appeared. We would rather say this openly than pretend otherwise.
We hold the work of photographers in the highest regard. Behind every good aviation photo is someone who was in the right place, at the right moment, with the patience to wait for it. We want to respect their rights, and we want to hear from you if something is not right.
Is one of these photos yours?
If you believe a photograph from the archive is your work, or that you hold the rights to it, please get in touch. We review every request individually and will look for a solution that does justice to your situation.
Copyright enquiries
To help us handle your message, please include:
- Your full name and contact details
- A link to the page on our website where the photo appears
- Any information that shows the photo is yours, such as the original file, an earlier publication or details of when and where it was taken
- How you would like us to proceed
Thank you
Many of the stories in this archive would be lost without the photographers who captured them. If we can put a name to an image, or set something right, we are grateful for your help in doing so.
