See the first European jet fighter with a swept-back wing, the Swedish Saab J-29 Tunnan.
You can clearly see the influence of the Germans on the design as well as the influence of American designs. The shape of the fuselage gave it the nickname ‘Flying Barrel’ (Tunnan means barrel in Swedish).
The first prototype flew in 1948. With a top speed of 1,000km/hr (622 mph) the Saab J-29 did well in comparison to the American designs.
High quality poster. Reproduction of original handmade painting by Thijs Postma.
