The Prinses Juliana of Martinair was a Douglas DC-9 / McDonnell Douglas MD-82. It was delivered to Martinair in 1983 with registration PH-MBZ.
Jet aircraft were almost exclusively used on long-distance routes. On shorter hauls mainly aircraft with piston engines and turboprops were used. That changed with the introduction of the American Douglas DC-9 as well as the British BAC 1-11.
