The Neptune served as a patrol aircraft for submarine reconnaissance and countermeasures.
In this version, the aircraft is equipped with two propeller engines and two jet engines. The first version with only propeller engines dates from 1945. The MLD flew with different versions of the Neptune in the period 1954 to 1981.
