The DC-2 was an all-metal airliner which made its first flight on September, 19th 1934 (almost a year after our artist Thijs Postma was born). The ‘UIVER’ became famous in the London-Melbourne air race. It won the first price in the handicap class and became second in the speed race.

Here the PH-AJU is shown after an emergency landing in Albury, Australia on 24th October 1934 on a swampy racecourse. The Uiver passed through bad weather for the last 5 hours and had issues with icing on its wings. After 300 people of the town helped to dig out the plane, it could continue the race.

High quality poster. Reproduction of original handmade painting by Thijs Postma.
