On October 23, 1906 the Brazilian Alberto Santos-Dumont made the first real flight in Europe. He flew 60 meters with his ’14-bis’ plane at Bagatelle, France. The next month he achieved the first speed record for airplanes at 41.3 km/hr (or 25.65 mph).
