The PH-AJA or “Arend” is getting ready for you. This is a Fokker F.XXXVI (F.36).

The Fokker F.36 could accommodate 32 passengers during the day or 18 passengers with beds during the night. KLM-director Albert Plesman asked Fokker in early 1932 for the design of this four-engined airliner for use on its line to the Dutch Indies (Indonesia).

The prototype flew in 1945 and KLM took delivery on March 15, 1935 due to many kinks. However, in the mean time the Douglas DC-2 arrived and KLM lost interest in the F.36. The prototype was on the European routes.

This reproduction is the month of June of the Fokker Calendar.

High quality poster. Reproduction of original handmade painting by Thijs Postma.
