You want to feel how it was flying in the first operational British jet fighter.

Here you can see the Gloster Meteor F.Mk.4 of the Dutch Air Force (LSK or Luchtstrijdkrachten) taking off!

The Gloster Meteor became operational in July 1944, mainly against the German V1 flying bombs.

The Dutch F.Mk.4 as well as the trainer T.Mk.7 and the F.Mk.8 were stationed at Dutch airforce bases Leeuwarden, Soesterberg, Twente, Volkel and Woensdrecht.

As the air force was still rebuilding after the Second World War, it had a lot of malfunctions, incidents and accidents. About half of the aircraft were written-off and 52 Dutch pilots lost their lives.

In the mid-fifties the Meteor was superseded by the Hawker Hunter.

High quality poster. Reproduction of original handmade painting by Thijs Postma.
