The Mikoyan MiG-9 made its first flight on April 24, 1946, followed by the Yak-15 three hours later. Some competition!
The Yak-15 was an adapted Yak-3 propeller fighter with a jet engine underneath.
Initially the Yak-15 was preferred by the pilots because they were used to the agile propeller fighter during the Second World War.
Eventually the MiG-9 was considered to be the best.
