The Douglas C-47 Dakota painted here, flies across a volcanic eruption on one of the islands of the Dutch East Indies, nowadays Indonesia.

The C-47 was the military version of the Douglas DC-3. The Dutch Naval Aviation (MLD) mainly operated these in the Dutch East Indies.
