See this unique Super Constellation with tiptanks used by Lufthansa. The D-ALAP was a Lockheed L-1049H Super Constellation.
The Super Constellation was a development of the L-749 Constellation. And also a successful response to the Douglas DC-6. It made its first flight in 1950. The first production ready L-1049 flew on July 14, 1951, operated by Eastern Air Lines on the New-York - Miami route.
