Thijs Postma - Poster - Dornier Do 27 Grzimek Serengeti
EAN:
Adventures begin in the Serengeti, Tanzania. See how the sun hits this airplane and the reflection on the windows. Another masterwork by Thijs Postma.
The Dornier Do 27 was the first military aircraft mass produced in West-Germany after the Second World War. It became popular due to its good short-take-off-and-landing (STOL) characteristics as well as low minimum speed.
The gouache shows the D-ENTE, a civil version belonging to the German biologist and documentary maker Bernhard Grzimek. Unfortunately his was killed when he crashed with a Do 27 after hitting a large bird, flying over Tanzania on January 10, 1959.
This reproduction is the month of June of the Artist Selection 2024 Calendar.
