The Convair was one of the most successful successors to the Dakota. The cruising speed was 440 km/h versus the 285 km/h for the Dakota.
For the passengers it was pleasant as it had a tricycle gear so they no longer need to climb into their chairs. The KLM operated 12 Convair 240s and 12 Convair 340s.
