Admire US Army Air Forces Ace, Major McGuire in action against the Japanese over New Guinea in his Lockheed P-38L Lightning called Pudgy. Major McGuire was the commanding officer of the 431st Fighter Squadron, 475th Fighter Group. He destroyed 38 enemy planes until he met his fate in January 1945.
